"For healthy teeth, most people are aware of the importance of typical bone building nutrients such as calcium and Vitamin D. But there are numerous vitamins and minerals which can have a positive effect on oral health. Vitamin K, which is becoming more widely recognised for bone health, but additionally is necessary for the health of the teeth. K2 is essential for the activation of Vitamin K dependent proteins and osteocalcin, which are involved in bone metabolism and the deposition of calcium in the bones, including the jaw and the teeth. Vitamin A is also involved in the production of tooth enamel and ensuring that teeth are adequately mineralised, via the formation of epithelial cells which secrete nutrients including calcium and phosphorous. Vitamin C, often recommended for immune health, may also be helpful for gum health, as it is essential for converting the amino acids, proline and lysine, in the formation of collagen. One group of vitamins which may not be an obvious choice when thinking of the health of the gums and teeth are the B Vitamins. But several studies have found that low levels of folic acid (B9) and thiamine (B1) are associated with more bleeding to the gums." Lamberts  Link to Article
