"Cranberry has long been suggested for bladder health and issues such as cystitis and a new study has confirmed this. A meta-analysis of 50 trials, which included almost 9,000 participants from all over the world has shown that for women who experience repeated UTIs, children and those who are more susceptible to these infections, the use of cranberry juice or supplements can reduce the incidence of UTIs. Cranberries contain procyanidolic oligomers (PCOs) which are large molecules that bind to bacterial receptors, preventing bacteria from adhering to the bladder, and quinic acid which acidifies urine to cause bacteriostasis and fructose which inhibits some bacteria."
